gingerbread mania

it's our annual gingerbread house! amazing that the girls don't become diabetics on this annual evening. nothing like pure powdered sugar and copious amounts of candy being ingested on the sly.

lucy's holiday program

mommy had to miss this one and it was the first scheduling trauma in our family's history. **sniff sniff** i was scheduled to help at emma's school's holiday party and it was a the same time as lucy's school's holiday program. here are some photos from that cute little event (lucy is in the red dress).

shane is the superstar

shane played (very well, i might add) in the jesuit alumni game last week and, of course, was awesome. i'm always amazed at how well that boy can play b-ball. it doesn't take long for everyone on the team to hit him up to make most of the plays. poor guy...don't they know that we are old and out of shape??? the last photo is of shane and his grandpa, who comes to all of the jesuit alumni events (shane, his dad, a bunch of uncles and cousins, and brother all graduated from dallas jesuit).

emma's multi-cultural holiday program

homage was paid to the hindu gods, the dreidle and christmas, as well as snowmen and the generic season of winter. it was all very p.c. and it was fabulous! cute, cute girls. these pictures aren't great...it's really hard to get a good shot in that auditorium, but they are the best i could come up with! in the first photo, emma is in the bottom row, 4th girl from the right with the white bows. in the second photo, she's first in line to come down off the stage.

we decorated for christmas last night! fun for all and a very pretty tree.
i swear to you, i married a man with the patience and kindness of a saint. :) not very many men would sit patiently while trying to work on the computer and let their daughter put barettes and crowns on them.
grandma nelson comes for a visit!!!

emma's thanksgiving program at school...she was a pilgrim.

emma and lucy after the thanksgiving program and before the pie!

one very cute kid.

lucy "pretties" her shoes

lucy was happily playing with a craft drawer set, stacking all the contents on the top of it, and then she disappeared. she came back into the room with her black leather shoes and told me that they were "ugly boy shoes," to which i replied that no, they were cute little girl shoes. i didn't really think much more of it until i heard lucy say, "now they're pretty...mommy, my shoes are pretty now." i went into her room and found her with 3 bottles of puff paint and her now "decorated" shoes. luckily it washed off (i had to scrub it with a stiff brush) and miraculously it didn't get on the carpet or her dress. amazing. what a day.
